Abstract:To promote the development of ecotourism in karst-type scenic spots, this study takes the Xishan Area of the Dianchi Lake National Scenic Area in Kunming as the research subject. Using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), an ecotourism suitability evaluation system was constructed, comprising two criterion layers, four element layers, and nine indicator layers. GIS technology was employed to conduct multi-dimensional quantitative assessments. The results indicate that the Xishan Area has favorable terrain and environmental suitability but lower resource and tourism suitability. Overall, Zone I and II suitable areas account for 37.32%, making them ideal for developing composite ecotourism; Zone III suitable areas constitute 46.41%, presenting greater development challenges and requiring a focus on ecological conservation and natural restoration. Zones IV and V, characterized by forest plant communities and distinctive karst landforms, primarily serve ecological protection functions. Based on the characteristics of landscape resources and suitability analysis, the Xishan area was divided into three functional zones—ecological recreation zone, ecological buffer zone, and ecological conservation zone—with scientifically defined tourism service orientations and functions for each. Optimization recommendations were also proposed, including strengthening transportation infrastructure and introducing diversified recreational programs.
