Abstract:With the rapid advancement of global urbanization, urban residents' demand for restorative experiences has grown increasingly urgent, making restorative environment research a hot topic in environmental psychology and related disciplines. As an important carrier of restorative environments, landscape for well-being has garnered increasing attention in both theoretical and practical research with the deepening implementation of the Healthy China Strategy. Based on a review of domestic and international literature on restorative environment theories and landscape for well-being over the past two decades, and considering China's demand for such landscapes, this paper explores the intrinsic link between therapeutic landscapes and human physical and mental health from the perspectives of Attention Restoration Theory and Stress Reduction Theory. It summarizes the research progress, methods, and outcomes in these areas, and integrates them into the practice of landscape for well-being. Through an analysis of the application of restorative environment theories in the field of landscape for well-being, the paper reveals the pathways and key influencing factors in the transformation from theory to practice. Based on theoretical frameworks and practical cases, it further proposes specific strategies for promoting restorative environment construction through garden design optimization in terms of spatial creation, plant configuration, and functional adaptation.
