Abstract:The Yunnan-Vietnam Railway is a significant linear cultural heritage site in Yunnan Province, serving as a historical testament to the region's modernization process. Despite overa century of development, numerous railway-related relics remain preserved in townsalong the route. This study selects seven railway heritage-type towns along the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway as research subjects through field investigations. By integrating theDelphi method, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and Fuzzy Comprehensive EvaluationMethod, a comprehensive landscape value assessment framework for these heritagetowns is established. The weights of evaluation indicators are determined through expertconsultation and hierarchical analysis, and the integrated scores at each level are calculatedaccordingly. Results indicate that the overall landscape quality of the seven towns is at amedium-to-high level. Specifically, Panxi Town (Panxi Station), Caoba Town (Caoba Station),and Zhicun Town (Zhicun Station) are classified as Grade II, reflecting favorable landscapeconditions; while Goujie Town (Goujiezi Station), Xunjiansi Town (Xunjiansi Station), BaiheTown (Baiheqiao Station), and Nanxi Town (Nanxi Station) are categorized as Grade III,indicating moderate landscape quality. Based on an analysis of the respective strengthsand limitations in landscape characteristics, targeted optimisation strategies have beenproposed for sites, natural features, settlements, agriculture, and cultural landscapes.
