Abstract:Based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), this article proposes a comprehensive evaluation model to screen and evaluate street tree species in the Southern Subtropics of China. The model incorporates 5 criterion layers and 16 indicator levels. 46 native tree species from the Southern Subtropics in China are evaluated in detail using this model. The results indicate that 7 species, such as Camphora parthenoxylon, Cleidiocarpon cavaleriei and Terminalia myriocarpa exhibit excellent performance; 21 species, such as Prunus zippeliana, Machilus chinensis, Michelia balansae show very good performance. All of these native species are recommended for wide use as urban street trees in cities in the south-central subtropical regions of Guangdong and Guangxi, as well as in the central subtropical regions of Yunnan. Concurrently, twelve new superior native tree species have been selected for promotion, providing a reference for selecting street tree species in South subtropics cities.
