Abstract:As digitalization and urban renewal accelerate, traditional community governance models face increasing challenges. Focusing on community public spaces, this study examines the current state and participatory dilemmas of community public space governance in China. Five typical cases of digitally empowered community governance are analyzed to investigate how digital tools are embedded across different governance stages and how participatory mechanisms are constructed. The findings reveal that digital platforms play key roles instimulating awareness, facilitating collaboration, and enabling governance feedback in community public space management. Based on case analysis, a threestage model of digitally empowered social participation in public space governance is developed: 'consensus building–co-creative design–co-construction and co-management'. The study also proposes digital-enabled strategies for different stages, including platform institutionalisation, governance incentives, and performance evaluation.
