Abstract:Eco-frendly foamed ecological boards, made from construction waste and fly ash, offer a modular and low-cost solution for vertical greening. However, their alkaline nature poses challenges for plant survival. To identify suitable species, 61 plant varieties were introduced from coastal and limestone regions in South China and evaluated for survival rate, overwintering and oversummering performance, stress tolerance, ornamental value, and growth potential under board cultivation. Results showed 49 species survived, with 18 exhibiting overwintering and oversummering rates above 85%. Twelve varieties of vertical greening plants suitable for foaming ecological board were selected by percentage method', and Callisia repens, Belosynapsis ciliata , Sedum sarmentosum had a comprehensive score of more than 80 and could quickly cover 100% of the board body to form a lawn.
