Abstract:With the intensification of urban environmental challenges, ventilation corridors have garnered increasing attention for their role in improving urban microclimates. However, existing research remains fragmented and lacks a systematic synthesis. This study employs CiteSpace to visually analyze 487 publications on urban ventilation corridors indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection from 1997 to 2024. The review summarizes major research trends and thematic hotspots. Results indicate limited cooperation among researchers and institutions. The research methods are relatively simplistic and lack a reasonable combination of methods. There is a classification problem in the research area, and the research direction is relatively single. The correlation between the research and reality is relatively weak. The research lacks a specific strategy for solving the practical problems. Future research should prioritize bridging the technical-strategic divide through systemlevel thinking for diversified ventilation corridor configurations. Researchers will have to dig deeper into new research paradigms such as circuit theory, backward trajectory modeling, and deep reinforcement learning (DRL). In addition, new research directions are explored in the context of reverse thinking and new propositions in health and economics.
