Abstract:During the southern tour of Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, Cao Yin, a weaver from Jiangning, led the salt merchants to invest to build the Palace of Gaomin Temple, which was completed in the 43rd year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty(1686). The layout of the palace is divided into three parts, namely the east, the middle and the west, showing a pattern of front palace and back garden, of which the garden area accounts for about one third, mainly with water features. During the southern tour of Emperor Qianlong, the Palace of Gaomin Temple was expanded, and the palace maintained its previous layout. However, the area of the garden increased greatly, forming a pattern of separated palace and garden, and the scenery around Gaomin Temple was fully developed. Yangzhou, as a north-south transportation hub, has a garden style integrating north-south gardening techniques. The garden of Palace of Gaomin Temple adopts a collection of garden styles, reflecting superb gardening skills.
