Abstract:The new trends of Landscape Architecture that appeared in recent years demonstrate simultaneously the multi- scalar and multi-disciplinary exploration and the rethinking of the design culture. In order to introduce these cutting-edge concepts from the western academic world, the research plan sets up planetarization and locality as two radical parameters based on one of the hubs of the discussion--Harvard Graduate School of Design, and invites scholars to elaborate on the related topics. This article reviews the first-year accomplishments of the research plan and generalizes the perspectives of the four interviewees that have disparate research focus and scale of approach. These topics can be concluded into the planetary theories and the discipline's design culture, the extraterrestrial imagination, the territorial scale of multi-disciplinary collaboration, the role of landscape architecture in local issues, and the on-site spirit of the urban voids. Based on the concepts discussed during the interviews, the article extends the arguments and examines the feasibility of the research framework in guiding the next phase of research and building the platform for international academic communication.
